Solar is another energy efficient means of heating your pool with no emissions. It’s only problem is that it works at its best when the days are sunny and long, which tends to be when the pools need heating the least.
Solar panels will raise the water temperature in the summer and provide an excellent means to extend the swimming season, what’s more they are cheap to run.
- NO Greenhouse Emissions!
- 600 % efficient - For every unit of energy paid for it puts 6 units of heat back into your pool.
- Costs only 2 Euros a day to heat an average pool.
- A heat pump works efficiently in cloudy or rainy conditions as long as the air temperature is above 6ºC
- Also consider a Heat Pump that is extremely efficient & kind to the environment.
- It must be remembered that solar can not be relied upon to heat the pool during the cooler cloudy months.

A series of south facing panels need to be installed. Often solar panels are fitted with a booster heater, either gas,oil or a heat pump, which will ensure that the pool is warm even in lower temperatures.
With solar heating, it is very important to stop the heat losses during the night, therefore it is necessary to fit a pool cover.
By using a bubble cover alone, you can raise the water temperature by 5ºC during the sunnier months.
